#SOUNDMINDs 2017

The Problem Statement

Paul the Apostle gave Timothy, his spiritual son this charge: “let no man despise your youth” (1Tim.4:12). At another place of admonition, he broke the yoke of fear and limitation off Timothy’s neck with this revelation saying: “for God has not given us the spirit of (bondage to) fear; but (the spirit) of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2Tim.1:7). Noteworthy are these powerful emphatic statements which did really transformed the life and business of Timothy as a young man and protégé of Paul the Apostle.

The same transformation is bound to happen in this year’s YOUTH ALIVE CONFERENCE of the Landmark Youth Fellowship as we endeavour to set the pace on the spirit of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND. This three-fold youth potency has begotten us through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ in us; more so, our baptism in the Holy Ghost.

Perfect love (of God and the brethren) cast out fear. However, we have been given the power to trample on snakes and scorpions, and to overcome ALL the powers of the enemies. But if our minds are not renewed to the level of becoming a SOUNDMIND, howbeit that we can influence our happiness, our success, and the realisation of our God-given potentials. Young folks, we need a SOUNDMIND! And of a truth, we have the spirit that inspires a SOUNDMIND in us. The Word of God is a proof of this as it is written that “…when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into ALL truth… (John 16:13a). In addition, “there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding” (Job 32:8).

Hence, to realise and release our God-given potentials, we need to have a sound mind. And if we have a sound mind – managed by the knowledge of God – then, our hearts becomes accustomed to the inspiration of the Almighty. But alas, many a teenager and young folk in the Church today do not know how to cultivate their minds to become SOUNDMINDs. Often than not, they abuse the power of their minds having forgotten that “as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7). Only a few have even come to the realisation of them being in possession of the spirit of a sound mind. This is simply because scores of teenagers and youths still live in the bondage of fear and timidity! Whereas, the name ‘Timothy’ is not the same as the mental captivity called ‘Timidity’. We must therefore get ourselves out of this lie from the pit of hell. We must get our generation of young believers out of such incapacitation now because we have a SOUNDMIND!
